Children are our future! This is just one of the mantras of The Bklyn Combine and we are helping shape young minds at Tweed Courthouse School, located in the Civic Center neighborhood of Manhattan, in the northern portion of City Hall Park.
Our resident horticulturist and facilitator, Cheryl, has been working with Tweed’s Pre-K classes on group projects using farming techniques like raised bed potting student scavenger hunts and material collection, interactive learning stations, and much more.
Building responsive, healthy, nurturing, and predictable environments are at the center of Tweed’s pedagogy. The Combine’s Pre-K farming program kept this at the center of its mission. Mrs. Aisha Thurman-Cosby, Early Childhood Director, and her staff at Tweed are incredible to collaborate with and truly embody the following quote “Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work.” – Dr. John Trainer
